TACKLE BACK PAIN WITH THESE REMEDIES:
Get some rest - but not too much. Studies show that more than four days resting up in bed can weaken muscles and actually
slow down your recovery. So make sure you incorporate some gentle exercise into your day, no matter how seized up you are.
Freeze the ache away. Ice is an excellent anti-inflammatory - try wrapping some frozen peas in a towel and resting it on the
affected area. Do this for five minutes, twice a day. (NB - applying heat to the area will ease pain, but is not nearly as good at
reducing the inflammation as a cold press).
Target your knees to help your back. Applying gentle pressure with your fingers to the backs of your knees is believed to release
blockages in your back, allowing pain to ebb away.
Drink a glass of fresh grape juice a day. The juice should be at room temperature, and should be drunk between meals.
Chamomile also helps relax the body, so that muscles unknot and pain can slip away. Try a cup of chamomile tea, or massage the
back with a blend of chamomile and neutral oil.
GENERAL SOFT TISSUE and MUSCLE PAIN RELIEF
When you sprain, twist, or strain something - and the injury isn't serious enough for medical attention - what do you do to relieve
the pain? If you're like most Brits, you run to the medicine cabinet and choke down a handful of Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or
Acetaminophen (Tylenol). But these products have potential side effects (some very serious - like liver damage and death). So
next time, try a natural approach. Rub Arnica gel (available at most natural foods stores) or Aloe Heat gel (ask us for details) on
the injured area. In a relatively short time, the pain, bruising, and swelling will be diminished.
DEALING WITH PAIN AND PAINFUL INJURIES THE NATURAL WAY
People come to our clinic for quite a number of reasons. But you know, one of the primary reasons they visit our
clinic is to try and get some relief from muscle aches and pains! Dealing with pain on an everyday basis can be quite
tiring and debilitating. We know we’ve visited that place
The aches and pains our clients’ suffer may have initially been caused by injury, surgery, training, poor posture at
work, and any number of other reasons. Sometimes the cause can be difficult to determine, and a remedy is
sought merely for the symptoms. We are often asked to provide advice on alternate means of dealing with the
problem other than the ubiquitous “pain killer” offered by many medical practitioners.
On this page we present a few tips we have gathered from different sources, that may help to solve some of your pain issues.
More tips on dealing with pain through food can be found on our Nutrition pages. See also page 2 in this section, which deals
with pain elimination using Magnetism, and Page 3 where there is a further brief caution about Aspirin.
We have also found a number of the self development programmes provided by Nightingale Conant to be useful. Among these
are "Pain Relief" by Dr Arnd Stein.
