Healthy Pages: a good site for articles about other Complementary Therapies
The purpose of these pages is to bring you a variety of helpful tips associated with the other sections in the Infostore. We will
also add, from time to time, miscellaneous items that we feel are of use to our readers. If you have any ideas that you would like

So to start the ball rolling here’s a few tips on avoiding your house 'turning toxic'.

  • Ban smoking inside the house. If you or your guests “need a weed”, smoke outside. Aside from the well-published health
threats, smoke aggravates asthma and can cause sore throats and ear infections in children. Tobacco tar will also cling to
soft furnishings for hours after smoking has stopped leaving a stale smell in any affected living space.

  • Leave your outdoor shoes in the porch or hallway. Each time you stomp around the house you grind in pesticides, lead
from car exhaust fumes, and countless other toxins. Much like the tar in smoke, these will lodge themselves in carpets and
rugs and linger round the house for ages.

  • Stave off the invisible threat of Formaldehyde (often contained in plywood and used in furniture and other construction all
over the house. With time, this chemical can seep out into the air, causing dizziness, shortness of breath, and sinus
trouble. To combat this issue, cover your plywood with an odourless varnish or lacquer.

  • Combat the computer threat! And here we don’t mean the Hollywood ‘Terminator’ version of events. These days most
homes have PC’s and printers lying around.  This equipment can emit VOCs (volatile organic compounds). So keep all office
electrical equipment like printers, fax machines, etc in one room - but NOT the bedroom and make sure the room is well
    ventilated.
We recently came across a great idea if you are an MP3 owner. It’s called the MP3 Bookstore. This online store has got some
great audio books to listen to whilst working and travelling. They provide full instructions on how to download their files to your
player and how to burn them to CD if you only have a CD player. They also have a good range of titles, everything from business
such as Rich Dad Poor Dad, biographies, language courses, novels like Stephen King and even BBC’s Blackadder. What’s more they
are cheaper than the real books and delivered instantly!

If you regularly listen to music on your MP3 or CD player this is a great way to use that ‘spare’ time to catch up on a bit of
alternate enjoyment or even learning. Nowadays, over 50% of adults have a player but increasingly, instead of music, we are
listening to the spoken word, whether it’s an audio book or some kind of audio training or podcast. In fact in one survey of ipod
wearing individuals over half weren't listening to music but were listening so some kind of spoken recording.

Sections we like include
Health & Recreation and Self Improvement. Why not check it out?
Another good site for reasonably inexpensive reports is the Seven Dollar Mall. Only a few useful eBooks on Health and Fitness at
present, but this is a new venture and additions are being added all the time.
