EFT - Emotional Freedom Techniques

EFT - A Universal Healing Aid

Learning to Accept and Heal Yourself

EFT could be described as a psychological form of acupuncture, or
acupressure. It utilises the same energy meridian lines as acupuncture.
However, EFT uses a system of finger tapping to stimulate and unblock
energy within meridians, instead of the invasive needles employed in
acupuncture. It treats physical and emotional ailments, by relieving
imbalances in the body’s energy systems

How does it work?

Some Benefits of EFT
  • No side Effects
  • No surgical procedures
  • No equipment involved
  • No needles
  • No pills or chemicals
  • No pushing or pulling of the body
  • No long drawn out 'Tell me your life story.'
  • No painful, endless sessions
  • Often works where nothing else will
  • Usually rapid, long lasting and gentle
  • Easily learned by anyone
  • Can be self applied.

What can EFT be used for?
EFT does not claim to work miracles by eradicating negative memories and issues. What EFT
can do is remove the debilitating feelings of anguish, guilt, sorrow, anger, fear or resentment,
thus allowing for the original incident to be viewed with a calm, detached attitude, enabling you
to experience life from a different, improved perspective. The techniques are gentle, rapid and
startlingly effective, and have been used successfully with many thousands of people with a
broad range of difficulties. EFT is capable of dramatically relieving emotional disturbances.
Any physical ailment or illness that has been manifesting itself as a result of these emotions can
also be eradicated. New or old emotional upsets can often be released in minutes; the results
are usually long lasting, and side effects are almost always positive.

For example, it has been shown to offer rapid and effective relief and help with the following:
Addictions (drugs, alcohol, tobacco) - Alcohol abuse - Allergies - Anxiety and Panic Attacks
- Anger - Asthma - Attention Deficit Disorder - Bereavement - Blood Pressure - Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome - Children's Issues - Chronic Pain and Headaches - Compulsions and
Obsessions - Concentration - Depression - Diabetes - Dyslexia - Eating Disorders - Fears
and Phobias - Food Cravings - Pain Management - Implementing Positive Goals -
Depression and Sadness - Grief and Loss - Guilt - Insomnia - Jealousy - Negative Memories
- Neuropathy - Nightmares - OCD - Obsessive Behaviour - Physical and Emotional Acute
Traumas - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Self Image (e.g. Lack of Self-esteem) -
Sexual Abuse Issues - Shyness - Traumatic Memories - Vision - Weight loss

Recent evidence also indicates its usefulness in certain physical conditions, i.e. the re-balancing
of the autonomic nervous system, (discovered by Cardiologist Dr Fuller Royal), and the
precise indication of individual foods or chemicals that can be toxic to the body's energy
system. EFT is also used to enhance personal performance in business and sport.

* Energy meridians run throughout the body and can be blocked or disrupted by emotional issues that compromise
well-being and healing potential.  herapies such as Acupressure EFT, Shiatsu, and Reiki balance disturbed meridians
so that emotional anguish and physical symptoms are found to subside.

The creative use of statements whilst carrying out the technique, enables the person to tune
into the issue and remain focused on the problem during the treatment. This is vital to the
success of the therapy. This combination of tapping the energy meridians and voicing of the
statements works to clear the 'energy disruption' or 'emotional block' from your body's energy
system, thus restoring your mind and body's balance, which is essential for optimal health and
the healing of physical ailments.

Most energetic imbalances may be partially or completely relieved within a short time using
this process. Others may be relieved through repetition of the process. The process has been
shown to help with behaviour change, phobias, physical pain and emotional issues. Often EFT
produces results in just minutes, which is one of the reasons it is the fastest growing branch of
psychology today.

Gaia EFT Practitioners:

EFT is a versatile therapy; it has been used to complement and enhance skills such as
Hypnotherapy, Psychology, NLP and Life Coaching, and has been used successfully on even
the most difficult problems. Indeed, because of its high rate of success (a claimed 85% of all
emotional problems), its use has spread rapidly. It is not uncommon for long-standing
problems to be resolved entirely in one session of treatment. Consequently, EFT practitioners
can now be found in every corner of world. Indeed, the celebrated hypnotherapist Paul
McKenna has demonstrated this technique many times on television to demonstrate just how
powerful it is!

An Introduction to Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT is fast gaining popularity throughout the world. It is relatively new to the UK having been
developed in the US, and has its roots in Applied Kinesiology.

More recently, EFT owes much to the work of Dr George Goodheart, the founder of Applied
Kinesiology, and Dr Roger Callahan. In 1980 Dr Callaghan was treating a patient for an
intense water phobia. She complained in that session of stomach pain so he told her to tap
under her eye as knew the energy meridian of the stomach ended here (from acupuncture
theory) and to his surprise the ladies fear of water disappeared. From that point on he began
studying this phenomenon and went on to create a new branch of therapy called energy
psychology or Thought Field Therapy (TFT).

In the early 90's, a student of Dr Callaghan, a Stamford engineer Gary Craig, then advanced
the theory and made it accessible to all by creating EFT. He simplified the complicated TFT
algorithms and made the process universally applicable for all mental, emotional, and physical
issues. Thus EFT was born
.
The effects of EFT are achieved by tapping certain acupuncture points with your fingers, while
tuning into a specific problem - whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain or anxiety.
This simple tapping technique inputs kinetic energy onto specific meridians* on the body.

The History of EFT
EFT can trace its origins back over 5000 years, to the Ancient
Chinese Shoalin and Taoist monasteries. Taoist monks first
mapped the subtle energies and meridians that travel throughout
the body. The Eastern healing arts of Acupuncture, Acupressure,
Shiatsu, and Reflexology, amongst others, were derived through
employing palpation techniques in conjunction with these energy
maps. EFT is based on discoveries, written down over 2000 years ago, in China, at the time
of the Yellow Emperor.
So why not give it a go and see where it can take you!
"Some day the medical
profession will wake up
and realise that
unresolved emotional
issues are the main cause
of 85% of all illnesses.
When they do, EFT will
be one of their primary
healing tools."
